Your Talents...
I invite you to take a look at how special you are!
Be well in all of your talents!
I recently had an itch to purchase a new camera. I bought my last camera about 2 years ago and was ready for an upgrade thanks to a fellow co-worker who just purchased a new camera. I headed to YM Camera and was greeted by Adam who helped me trade in my old camera and pick the perfect camera for my interests. I was instantly in love! I had never been to YM before but it looked like a candy store for photographers! Even the lenses had lenses! I never really learned how to use my last camera; I just loved to take pictures and thankfully most of them turned out amazing! I couldn’t wait to go out and shoot around and capture my favorite subject; nature. I believe that nature is the most interesting subject because it is always posing. Working with nature helps keep me present because each second changes the light or the mood of the photo. In order to work with nature you have to be respectful of each nuance….
I was surprised that Adam didn’t recommend that I purchase additional supplies for the camera; after all I thought I would need a lot of equipment. He made a very simple comment that stuck with me, “Most people buy all kinds of equipment thinking that it will make their picture more special when really you just need to have an eye for it.”
His comment got me thinking….how many times do we go outside of ourselves in search of “something” that will add to our perfect way of being? We look to accessorize what we aren’t sure of and pass over what we don’t like. What if, like the camera, we explored the features that are already there instead of complicating the simplicity of “being?” How many of you have talents that you aren’t using right now because you think you don’t have the right equipment? I invite you to take a look at how special you are….as Joel Osteen always says, "The Divine put that dream in your heart." How can you use your talent in this moment to make your life better….to ripple out to help others?
Talent as defined by Merriam Webster is “the natural endowments of a person; a specific often athletic, creative, or artistic aptitude.”
Be well in all of your talents!
