Getting "Reiki Ready" for TV
The practice of Reiki entails learning how to "let go & let God," to become a bridge for this higher power.
As I verbalized on-camera Reiki is already flowing through our bodies as the unseen force that heals our bodies, especially when we are asleep or are in a similarly relaxed state.
I was thrilled to get a call from Susan Campbell last month, host of WFMJ Healthy Living. Susan wanted to feature a Reiki segment on the news! She was concerned about how to portray such a mysterious and sometimes controversial subject in a traditional setting. (T.V.!!!!) I assured her during our phone conversation that I would represent Reiki with the respect that it deserves. She also asked if I could produce a client who had achieved a miraculous result with Reiki and the perfect person came to mind; Lucinda Kutsko! Lucinda was amazing on camera, recounting her painful 9 month bout with "the worst case of tendonitis that I have seen" according to her orthopedic doctor. This condition left her unable to pick up a coffee cup or do simple tasks at her office job. In one treatment we got the pain to subside considerably, then a week or so later during her second treatment, the tendonitis condition was totally gone, "and that was 12 years ago, " recounted Lucinda.
The whole experience of the taping went so smoothly, time just flew. When I watched the news that evening I was so pleased with how the segment looked and felt. There was such a warmth conveyed. The "off-camera" conversation Lucinda and I had with Susan C. and Mike, the camera guy, was just as enchanting as the whole "on-camera" experience. We talked about some of the skepticism surrounding Reiki and how it is sometimes conceived as something to be cautious of. MORE FALSE WORDS WERE NEVER SPOKEN!!!! Rei in Japanese means God Essence/Divine Intelligence, Kei means Life Force Energy. The practice of Reiki entails learning how to "let go & let God," to become a bridge for this higher power. As I verbalized on-camera Reiki is already flowing through our bodies as the unseen force that heals our bodies, especially when we are asleep or are in a similarly relaxed state. As far as skeptics? I also explained that "the Earth was once believed to be flat." (I don't think Earth should be capitalized??)
It's still beyond me how anyone can equate Reiki with being "weird." Although to be fair to the skeptics I have encountered practitioners and on-line sources who have mixed their own ego issues with this sacred healing modality, thus giving it a bad rap.
Our creator is mysterious, miraculous, gentle, healing, and loving! To me none of these words are a synonym for "weird!"
